It was initially an unpopular choice for her due to the it was awash in violence, nudity and gender-based subtexts. However, the compelling plot and the feminist aspect led her to agree to the part. Steven R. Monroe directed the film, which debuted on 8 October 2010. Butler began filming The Stranger Within (a psychological thriller) in Spain, Mallorca with Estella Ward and William Baldwin back in November 2011. The film was also set to shoot in Copenhagen Denmark and New York City.She joined the cast of the film, an independent one Treachery with Michael Biehn which began filming in Los Angeles in June 2012. Butler was a part of the 2013 horror film The Demented with Michael Welch as well as Kayla Ewell.
